Can hostas be propagated by seed?

in Frequently Asked Questions

Hostas produce a lot of seed; however, while possible, it’s unlikely that any seedling will have more than a passing resemblance to the seed or pod parent, nor any particular appeal of its own. Not all hostas produce fertile seed and not all seed in any one pod is necessarily fertile.

Propagation of hostas is usually done by divisions or by tissue culture propagation. Both methods make clones of the original plant without using seeds.
