What is tissue culture propagation?

in Frequently Asked Questions

Tissue culture propagation, also known as micro propagation, is a way of dividing cells and reproducing clones of the mother plant. Cells are taken from the meristematic tissue and grown in a carefully-controlled medium with nutrients and plant growth hormones.

Tissue culture labs are sterile environments that undergo rigorous virus testing. It is the safest way to reproduce hostas today, and is also used for many other plants. Our Starter (TC) and Advanced Starter hostas come from sterile tissue culture labs.
